yep April 28 2004 Today we had the privilege to receive a living legend ''Martial'' the patriarch of the Bréa family. He came along with his son Roboam Bréa. It was a very instructive meeting. Listening to him was like living history. Everything has started... in 1955, at Ruelle 5 with friends like Jean Marie and Reynold gousse, Raymond Thébaud, Géto, Pierre Pierre, Auguste and Nicolas. His style at that time was Kawashi, not Kodokan. In 1960, Martial was the instructor of Judo and close combat of the FADH, at the military base ''Camp d'application''. In 1961, he was called upon to train the soldiers at a second military base called '' Aviation'' he then met Edgar Sylva who became one of his best students. He is a humble and very secure man. It was a real pleasure to be around him.

Par Bernard Victor..Je souhaite une Bonne et Heureuse Année 2004 à tous les pratiquants du judo du 10eme Département, et également ceux évoluant sur le territoire national. Nous voici à l’aube d’une nouvelle ère de notre histoire. 1er janvier 1804- 1er janvier 2004, 200 ans de gloire, de fierté d’hommes libres. Mon souhait le plus sincère serait de voir que finalement, tous, nous nous asseyons autour de la même table pour résoudre les problèmes de notre pays, et puis qu’enfin nous puissions utiliser à bon escient notre devise “ L’UNION Fait la Force.” J’applaudis vivement les démarches de Yvon Dupoux et Turnier Espérance qui ont eu la magnifique idée de mettre sur pied le “ Haitian Martial Arts Network”. Bien que beaucoup ne comprennent pas pour l’instant la teneur de ce mouvement, je pense que ceux-la ne tarderont pas á comprendre que ce network fera un long chemin et que nous pourrons tous l’utiliser comme une source de connaissance a tous les points de vue. Qu’il s‘agisse de trouver un animateur pour un centre communautaire, faire des recherches sur les arts martiaux haïtiens, ou tout simplement de contacter une ancienne connaissance; ce network constituera une source de référence. Je vous exhorte tous, Judokas, Karatékas, et lutteurs, de contacter les responsables de network si vous ne l’avez pas encore fait. Ainsi à l’aube de ce nouvel an, il m’incombe comme ancien responsable de la Ligue du 10ème. de faire face à mes responsabilités. Je présente mes excuses à tous ceux-la qui ont été dessus de la performance de la ligue durant ces dernières années. Nous avons été accusés d’inactifs et quoi d’autres encore. Au contraire, la ligue fut à l’avant-garde de quelques événements qui ont marques le sport que nous aimons tous. Je suis fier de déclarer ici devant vous frères judokas que l’ancien comite directeur a beaucoup contribue pour que Haïti soit présente aux Championnats Panaméricain organise en Floride. La ligue a été présente a Port-Au-Prince pour le Championnat National de 2000. Nous avons été présents aux championnats mondiaux de 1997, 1999, et tout récemment a Osaka durant l’année écoulée. Les superstars du judo haïtien, en l’occurrence Joël Brutus et Ernst Laraque Jr., qui ont gagnés tant de médailles au nom de notre pays le font comme membre de la Ligue du 10eme Département. Je profite de cette occasion de remercier M. Carly Ménard qui a consenti de grands sacrifices pour représenter Haïti et la Ligue au dernier championnat mondial 2003 a Osaka. Durant cette année en cours, j’exhorte tous les nouveaux membres élus de la ligue de s’atteler à la tache sans relâche pour organiser la première compétition régionale du 10eme. Département. Autres Nouvelles : Le samedi 24 janvier écoule, les clubs affilies à la ligue du 10eme se sont réunis en assemblée générale et ont élu les membres du nouveau comite directeur de la Ligue de Judo du 10eme. Département. Le nouveau comite est ainsi compose : Wisler Jacques pres. Bernard Victor Dir. ad Chery will. Sec. Gen. Neville P. L. Dir. Tech. Et 5 conseillers. Certains judokas estiment que ce groupe est un peu restreint et ils pensent qu’il est impératif que la ligue élargisse ce groupe en élisant comme par exemple, un vice-président et des adjoints au directeur technique. Ce matin Shihan Lionel Abellard, Ceinture noire 7th dan; nous a rendu une visite surprise à Rosedale. Il était accompagné de Turnier Espérance HMAN,CFO. The man is in the best of shape. It was amazing to observe that his speed, his stability, his acumen are still growing. In spite of his previous cardio vascular problems, Lionel is still the same...a tiger, un défi à la médecine. Nous avons discuté de plusieurs sujets se rapportant au HMAN, au karaté Haitien et à leur destiné commune. Yvon
From the desk of Shihan Lionel R. Abellard Sunday, April 11th, 2004 Après avoir rencontré différents membres de la communauté des arts martiaux à New York, à la lumière d’un fructueux dialogue avec les dirigeants du Réseau Haitien des arts martiaux (HMAN) Turnier Espérance et Yvon Dupoux. J’ai décidé de supporter la formation par HMAN d' une Ligue nationale de Karaté pour servir la diaspora. Cette ligue s’articulera à un projet concerté d’émancipation et de répartition du Karaté partout dans la mère patrie et dans les communautés Haitiennes d’outre mer. La ligue de la diaspora sera subordonnée aux lois et statuts de notre fédération nationale. Elle travaillera avec les différents clubs et associations pour élargir le champ du karaté tant en Haiti qu’à l’étranger. Les membres de HMAN, si je le comprends bien, vont assurer la préparation et la présentation d’un organigrame pour supporter cette ligue. J’entreprendrai la même démarche auprès de mes collègues d’Haiti pour valider et appuyer l’introduction de la “Ligue du Karaté de la Diaspora”. They will join us for the tournament scheduled for Saturday August 14th 2004 (9:00AM - 4:00PM) at Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus and for the dinner gala scheduled for August 14th (8:00PM-1:00AM) at the Holiday Inn JFK. - In all Government, there is a
hierarchy. When a high ranked of that chain of command is out of place or
endangering the entire nation, it is that particular officer whatever his or

has to step down, to resign or to be dismissed by the rest of the governing
body, not the other way around.
-Therefore it is not the

person. Yes one person may have started or had the original idea. But to concretize it or to make it real, it took the good will of many honest Martial Artistes.
-I take it upon myself to urge
the other Vice-Chairman and the other members of the board to authorize the
actual Chairman in the person of Yvon Dupoux to vacate his position until
further notice.
- And, now you want to give it all up because Dr. Dupoux is going against the current.
- Gentlemen, brace yourself put
aside your sentimentality, your emotion for one minute and look closely if it
makes any kind of sense. The change to take place is for the Chairman, Dr.
Yvon Dupoux to step aside and let the organization follow its course. The
Chairman must present himself in front of a committee made of a few members of
the board if not all and first return all document pertaining to HMAN.
Secondly, Give a clear explanation of his attitude and clarify all matter
regarding the organization and its development.
